Since 2021, LIC has been a student-led home where the AUC community connects through language, culture, and the shared belief that every voice belongs.

Our story

It started in Fall 2021.

A group of students from different countries — speaking different languages — set out to create a space where everyone at AUC could share their culture. That initiative became the Language Club, and our purpose has stayed the same ever since:

  • Integrate international students into the AUC student body.
  • Build cultural dialogue between local and foreign students.
  • Raise awareness of the world's languages and cultures.

Meet the board

Who runs the show

LIC is entirely student-run. Every position leads its own team and area of the club — tap a role to see what it does each semester.

  • Recruit, interview, and select the Marketing Committee.
  • Develop marketing strategies aligned with LIC's goals and semester objectives.
  • Keep messaging and visual branding consistent across all digital and printed materials.
  • Manage LIC's social media — content planning, writing, scheduling, and engagement.
  • Lead the Graphic Design Team on visuals for events, campaigns, and weekly updates.
  • Document every event with photos and video, and keep an organized media archive.
  • Handle flyers, banners, posters, and booth setup for fairs and tabling days.
  • Report progress to the Vice Presidents each semester.
  • Recruit, interview, and select the Logistics Committee.
  • Plan all operational needs for events — venue booking, equipment, and on-ground coordination.
  • Build a logistics timeline for setup, execution, and breakdown of each event.
  • Coordinate with venue managers, university facilities, and AUC departments for spaces and resources.
  • Manage club equipment and supplies, ready before each event.
  • Act as the on-site point of contact, troubleshooting issues in real time.
  • Ensure health, safety, and university compliance for every event.
  • Report progress to the Vice Presidents each semester.
  • Recruit, interview, and select the HR Committee.
  • Develop HR strategies aligned with LIC's goals and semester objectives.
  • Keep internal communication and team-culture standards consistent.
  • Lead onboarding, training, and team-development materials.
  • Look after the welfare and engagement of all members throughout the semester.
  • Keep member records and HR documentation.
  • Run team-building activities to strengthen club cohesion.
  • Report progress to the Vice Presidents each semester.
  • Recruit, interview, and select committee members.
  • Recruit multilingual facilitators for each table — Arabic, French, Spanish, German, and Italian.
  • Set the weekly schedule and theme for Café sessions.
  • Make sure every table is set up and equipped with the materials it needs.
  • Track attendance and keep a welcoming atmosphere at all tables.
  • Keep sessions flowing and troubleshoot on the spot.
  • Collect feedback from facilitators and participants to improve future sessions.
  • Submit brief progress reports to the Vice Presidents.
  • Recruit, interview, and select the Language Classes Committee.
  • Recruit and onboard facilitators for each offered language class.
  • Work with instructors to design weekly class structures and keep sessions consistent.
  • Set the semester schedule and manage class registration and waitlists.
  • Ensure classrooms are booked, equipped, and ready each week.
  • Oversee communication with participants and follow up on attendance or issues.
  • Collect feedback from instructors and participants for continuous improvement.
  • Submit brief progress reports to the Vice Presidents.
  • Recruit, interview, and select the Events Committee.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all LIC events across the semester, including Cultural Nights.
  • Build a full events calendar and keep every committee aligned on dates and deadlines.
  • Oversee events end to end — concept, planning, execution, and post-event review.
  • Coordinate with Logistics on venues and equipment, and with Marketing on promotion and branding.
  • Liaise with external speakers, performers, and cultural partners for programming.
  • Monitor event budgets with the Treasurer and ensure responsible spending.
  • Run post-event evaluations and collect feedback to raise event quality.
